Issue
If you are having trouble viewing a presentation and have verified all playback requirements have been met, follow the tips for troubleshooting Windows, Mac, and Firefox playback issues described in this article.
Solution
Troubleshooting Windows playback issues
If you encounter difficulty uninstalling Silverlight on a Mac, you might run a free Mac app removal utility such as FreeMacSoft's AppCleaner (see Download Free AppCleaner for Mac in the Related Articles at the end of this web page), and delete the appropriate installed components found by the app removal utility. Otherwise, contact a Mac. When a Silverlight box opens, select Install Now. Open the Downloads page and double-click on Silverlight.dmg. On Safari, the Downloads page is in the upper right corner of the browser. On Firefox, the Downloads page is a separate window in the Dock. On Chrome, the Downloads page is under the Window drop-down menu on your browser. The technician told me to go to systems preferences and hit the general tab. About 1/2 down, if you have already tried downloading silverlight, it should say apple store and identified developers. Click that button and then click always. It will step you through the process to download silverlight. Visual Studio Service Pack (SP1) / Silverlight Tools & Toolkit Installation Issues: (No Internet Scenarios) There will be situations where you might face a problem with installing the Visual Studio Service Packs and the Silverlight tools which are having a dependency on one another.
Verify Windows Media Player and Internet Explorer settings are correct
A note about Safari on the Mac: Silverlight works on the Mac in Safari but it has a bug that makes it appear to not be working. Other browsers will allow you to watch the video while its downloading in the background but Safari downloads to whole video before it starts playing. This makes it look like its not working.
If you are having trouble viewing a presentation on a Windows computer:
- Verify the Windows Media Player settings are correct following the instructions described in KBA3036.
- Verify the Internet Explorer settings are correct following the instructions described in KBA3201.

Troubleshooting Firefox playback issues
You can use Firefox to view presentations on Windows, Mac OS, and Linux computers. Please note that to playback a Mediasite presentation in Firefox, you must install Silverlight. You will be prompted to install Silverlight if it is not installed already. There are a few known issues when viewing presentations using the Firefox web browser.
